Feb. 20, 2018 Flu Update

Four new hospitalizations since the last update. 86% of those hospitalized have been 55 or older.


New flu hospitalizations reported since last update (2/16/18): 4

Number of flu hospitalizations since 10/1/17: 178

Age range: 1-98 years

Median age: 73 years

Percent female: 55%

Percent 55 years old or older: 86%

Number of pediatric flu deaths this flu season in Mesa County: 0

There has been 1 pediatric death reported in the state but it was not in the West or Northwest Region.

Hospital status: MCPH continues to monitor hospital inpatient numbers, antiviral stock and the potential for supply shortages. At this time, supply of staff and resources are able to meet demand. We’re only seeing an infrequent delay in the shipment of some supplies due to regional and national shortages.
