2004 Blue Ribbon Awards

In October 1991, the Mesa County Board of Health authorized the implementation of a program for the recognition of licensed retail food service establishments in Mesa County which consistently maintain superior sanitation practices.

The criteria to participate in The Blue Ribbon Award program include:

• Open to the general public.
• Provide a full service menu.
• Receive no violations of a critical nature during their routine inspection.
• Provide on-site seating.

During the 14th year of the program, 23 Mesa County retail food service establishments received The Blue Ribbon Award. Facts worth noting:

• Taco John's, at 1122 N. 12th Street, is the only facility that has received the award each year that the program has been in effect, for a total of 14 awards.
• A total of 338 awards have been presented since the program began in 1991.
