Women, Infants and Children
(WIC)
WIC is a supplemental food and nutritional program designed to improve the health
of women, infants and children. This service provides nutrition education and
extra food as well as referrals to other health care programs. Some of the food
WIC provides includes fresh milk, eggs, beans, cheese, peanut butter, cereal,
tuna, carrots, infant juice and special infant formula.
Eligibility
- Pregnant women.
- Postpartum women for 6 months
- Breastfeeding women until the infant's 1st birthday.
- Infants
- Children up to the age of 5.
Must reside in Mesa County, Colorado, be within income guidelines, and have a nutrition risk factor.
Income Guidelines
At or below 185% of poverty, which are similar to the reduced school lunch
guidelines used by School District #51. A family of 4 can earn up
to $3,269 a month before taxes (gross monthly income) and still qualify for WIC.
