The Mesa County Health Department has
issued a No Open Burning Air Watch Alert for Mesa County, including
agricultural burns, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.
The National Weather Service, Grand
Junction field office issued a Red Flag Warning due to gusty winds that could
reach 45 mph.
When winds reach gusts of up to 30
mph, it is likely for smoke to be blown directly into a neighborhood instead of
dispersing upward into the atmosphere as it normally would.

Residents should also note, blowing
dust could reduce visibility to less than one mile at times and it could also
cause problems for sensitive groups, such as people with respiratory illness
and heart disease.
