Mesa County Public Health (MCPH) has been notified of a fatality related to COVID-19 that impacts our community. A Colorado Mesa University student in his 20s died in Arapahoe County of complications related to COVID-19, the student was not a resident of Mesa County, and there isn’t any evidence to suggest that he was in Mesa County during his illness. He did have contact with a known COVID-19 case in Arapahoe County.
“This is a tragic loss of life and we share our heartfelt condolences with the family, and to the entire University community,” said Jeff Kuhr, Executive Director at MCPH. “This unfortunate loss highlights the seriousness of this virus. Now more than ever, we ask our residents to step up and do your part to protect yourself, your family, and our community.”

The best way you can help to slow the spread of COVID-19 is by continuing to practice physical distancing, adhering to public health orders and guidance including avoiding social gatherings, and staying home if you are sick.
