Mesa County Public Health is taking this situation seriously and so should the public. We are seeing increased cases in Colorado and we expect to continue to see more. Our prompt public health actions will help protect the most vulnerable populations and the facilities that serve them as part of preventing widespread disruption in Mesa County.

Residents also have a role in preventing the spread of the virus and should take this situation as seriously as we are. While COVID-19 has similar symptoms to the flu, there are reasons why COVID-19 is such a threat.

  • COVID-19 has the ability to impact healthy adults and the elderly with preexisting health conditions. 
  • COVID-19 is transmitted very efficiently; it can be transmitted by those who are mildly ill or even presymptomatic. One person can transmit the disease to two or three other people.
