Mesa County Public Health (MCPH) is hosting a community forum regarding suicide prevention on Feb. 27 at the Mesa County Workforce Center, 512 29 ½ Road, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

All residents are invited to attend to learn about the work that’s been done to prevent suicide in Mesa County. Feedback, new ideas and problem-solving will be a main focus of the event, as well.

“We’ve spent the last year digging into new ideas and opportunities to prevent suicide in Mesa County. After working with community stakeholders, students, parents, families and everyone in between, we’re ready to share our progress in suicide prevention with the community and hear their thoughts,” MCPH Program Integration Manager Sarah Robinson said.

Robinson also noted that the overwhelming response and support of community members is what shaped many of the changes and actions regarding suicide prevention in Mesa County.

“Suicide has touched the lives of so many Mesa County families. This is a community problem and Mesa County residents see that,” Robinson said. “We’ve been pleasantly overwhelmed by the interest and backing throughout the Valley and we want to make sure we keep that going. This forum is just one way for residents to let us know what we can be doing more of, what we can change and what we can continue doing.”
