UPDATE – JULY 31, 8:26 A.M.: Due to continued smoke in the area, MCPH has extended the wildfire smoke advisory until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1.
Mesa County Public Health has issued a wildfire smoke advisory for the evening of Monday, July 30 due to smoke from the Cache Creek wildfire – just eight miles southwest of Rifle, Colo.
If smoke is thick in your area, stay inside – especially if you have heart disease or respiratory illness. Infants, young children and elderly residents are also advised to stay inside. All residents should consider limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present and consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is making you ill.
If visibility is less than five miles in smoke in your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.
