BACKGROUND:
Flu season is now underway in Mesa County. It runs from October through May, with cases typically peaking between mid-February and late April. The best source of protection from the worst outcomes of the flu is the vaccine. It’s a safe and effective way to stay safe and healthy.
Every year the flu changes, so people need an updated version of the vaccine to ensure the body develops immunity to the most recent strain of the virus. After vaccination, it takes about two weeks for the body to develop an immune response.
