National Nurses Week is May 6 – 12. Mesa County Health Department acknowledges and appreciates the hard work and dedication of local nurses.

This year’s annual week of recognition focuses on two of nurses’ most critical responsibilities: ethical practice and quality care.

Nurses are one of the most highly trusted professionals in the United States. An annual Gallup survey shows that the public has ranked nursing as the top profession for honesty and ethical standards for 13 straight years.

Although they are well-known for their compassion, selflessness and ability to connect with patients, nurses also provide education, guidance and resources to individuals and families managing chronic conditions or illnesses. Registered Nurses help families and patients understand discharge and care plans, medication regimens, appointment follow-ups, referrals and equipment needs.

Nurses are an integral component of the health care system.
